What significance do you see in the story’s title ,”Dead’s Man Path” ?
The irony of the short story’s title adds significance by depicting the direct significance of the path as well as foreshadowing the outcome of Michael Obi decisions as a headmaster.
What ironies do you see in the story ?
Besides the title there is irony in the way tradition is disregarded by Michael Obi who desires to establish modern methods. When he discovers a villager walking on school grounds to the path he orders the path to be fenced off with barbed wire. The surrounding community is appalled and a few days later an incident occurs and Obi is dismissed.
